Kathleen Dean Moore is a Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at Oregon State University and a founding director of the Spring Creek Project for Ideas, Nature, and the Written Word. She has written numerous and well-acclaimed books, including "Riverwalking: Reflections on Moving Water," "The Pine Island Paradox," a textbook on critical reasoning, and a 1990 Choice Magazine "Outstanding Academic Book," "Pardons: Justice, Mercy, and the Public Interest." Of her work, the Library Journal wrote, Moore's intense love for and close observation of nature combine with a keenly philosophical mind, reminiscent of the work of other fine philosopher-naturalists such as Thoreau, Dillard, and Muir.
