Cynthia Thomashow is a core faculty member of the Environmental Studies department and Director of Environmental Education at Antioch University New England. She is Co-Director of the Center for Environmental Education which is housed within Antioch New England Institute. Her academic interests include the formation of ecological identity, human and conceptual development, learning theory, and environmental education. Her most recent outreach project was the development of a school-based radio curriculum for Living On Earth, NPR’s environmental radio program. Working mostly in urban centers, she trained high school students to use radio programming as a way to document and broadcast environmental information focused on local place. She is currently writing a book on her experience directing this program. Her family, hiking, biking, dancing, and gardening fill up the other half of her life.
