The MERE summit steward positions places trained AUNE graduate students on Mt Monadnock during high use weekends, holidays and on days when large school groups visit the mountain. Students in these outreach positions engage park visitors in friendly conversation to educate them about proper use of trails, mountain ecology and safety. During poor weather weeks and during winter months stewards will conduct projects associated with the mission of MERE. (e.g., work with high school students on AACC project, or efforts to communicate the ecological research conducted by mere in written and poster format).
Outgoing, energetic persons with a desire to climb mountains and talk to the public. Independent, skilled as an educator.
