This research assistant position requires lab support involving the preparation, analysis, and interpretation of paleo-ecological samples from field sites in Alaska, and course planning support for logistics-development needed for the Spring '14 Alaska field studies trip. Other duties may be required as needed or as time permits.
Qualifications: should have experience or interest in working with sediment and organic samples and identifying plant remains that record vegetation change over the past several thousand years. Should be able to develop and track contact lists and logistical arrangements necessary to facilitate a multi-week field course that requires multiple airline, vehicle, ferry, and housing elements. Attention to detail and record-keeping is essential.
