Job description: prepares print material for scanning, uses sophisticated scanner to convert printed text to digital form, edits scanned documents for errors in optical character recognition. Stores results on CD-RW and tests for usability, provide technical support to students with disabilities, other support as needed. Maintains training materials to train successors in position, develops and maintains database of electronic text and articles.
Ability to read, understand and interpret hardware and software manuals. Knowledge of scanning hardware and optical character recognition software very useful. Care and precision in editing and making corrections. Reliability and ability to follow through project from beginning to end. Strong organization and time management skills, ability to work independently.
