Conservation easements are an effective tool that land conservation organizations employ in protecting valuable natural resources. The acquisition of conservation interests is the crown jewel which most organizations covet. Stewardship and monitoring of these properties are often looked upon as a secondary need. Conservation organizations that acquire property or hold conservation easements have committed themselves to perpetual stewardship of those holdings. Therefore, one of the foremost objectives of these organizations should be protecting their land holdings in perpetuity. Along with this come the considerable responsibility of stewardship and the monitoring of conservation easements.
