The Teacher Certification Program in the Department of Education offers sixteen-month, 40-42 credit degree in Teacher Certification and an eighteen-month, 44-credit Waldorf Teacher Education degree. These pre-service programs are for students seeking teacher training within specific philosophical frameworks and who desire teacher certification in Elementary, Early Childhood, and Special Education. A small number of already certified teachers participate in this program and in place of courses required for certification complete a master’s project.
Students in all programs complete two teaching internships to qualify for teacher certification. Internships are available in a variety of public and independent elementary schools and early childhood learning centers. The program maintains a network of teachers and schools committed to many forms of progressive education.
