Beyond Injustice Group (BIG)
The Beyond Injustice Group (BIG) is an interdepartmental student-run group committed to reducing social stigma, raising awareness of local social justice issues, and reinforcing community involvement and outreach.
Thus far, we have worked towards these values by hosting events to recognize and support stigmatized groups. Our first event, a film showing and discussion of Out in the Silence was in recognition of International Coming Out Day and raised awareness of GLBT issues. The group has also completed a campus flyer campaign for Mental Illness Awareness Week in order to reduce stigma against those with mental illness and replace mental illness myths with facts. BIG has members across multiple departments at Antioch University New England and are welcoming more! Anyone who is interested in joining or learning more about the group should contact Jean Devenny.
