Loan Deferments

Eligibility

Students who are registered at least half time may have previous federal student loans taken after 1987 deferred while they are enrolled at AUNE. Federal loans taken before 1987 may require full–time enrollment status to defer payment while you are in school, and some states require you to maintain full–time status to be eligible for deferment of state–funded loans. Our Office of Financial Aid can assist you on the specifics of your loan regulations.

Antioch University New England, as required by federal law, will automatically report your enrollment status to your lender through the National Student Loan Clearinghouse. If you are still receiving payment notices, contact your lender and have them send the Registrar's Office a deferment form, which we will complete and return.

Definitions of Enrollment Status:

Fall & Spring Semesters

  • Full Time: 7 or more credits
  • Half Time: 4 to 6 credits

Summer Semester

  • Full Time: 5 or more credits
  • Half Time: 3 to 4 credits
