Competency Area: Foundation
Required of and restricted to Ph.D students. Open to Master's students with permission of the instructor.

A mainly theoretical track, this reading seminar will allow for deep exploration of connectivity between scale and parallels between "natural" and anthropogenic systems. Seminar participants will enter the seminar with a basic understanding of resilience theory. It will be broken into three incremental phases:
-Foundations of resilience science
-Advanced concepts of resilience and complexity
-Applications
Through these increasingly specific lenses,seminar participants will explore systemsthinking, resiliency and complexity theories, scale of governance, integrated solutions, and linkages between natural and anthropogenic systems. In addition to the monthly meetings, additional contact hours will be met by on-line coursework and virtual seminar meetings.
