Prerequisite: Completion of all CMHC II courses and internships.

This course will provide a synthesis of approaches to the treatment of traumatic experience, including cognitive behavioral and psychophysical approaches. How traumatic experience affects neurobiology, cognitive process, interpersonal, and emotional functioning will be examined. Current theories of trauma etiology, acute and persistent effects of trauma, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic PTSD, as well as clinical theories of long-term recovery will be examined. The course format will include discussion, lecture material, and applied case conceptualization and clinical interventions.
