Competency Area: Behavioral Science Foundation Required of CMHC II & III students.
Restricted to CMHC III and CMHC- SAAC III students from December 7 – 16; open to all AP students on December 17.

Using numerous case examples this weekend course will focus on the mechanisms of action and clinical uses of psychotropic medications used in the treatment of affective disorders, psychotic disorders and anxiety disorders. The basic neurobiology underlying these disorders will be presented as part of the discussion of the therapeutic mechanisms of drug action. Also included are the mechanisms by which substances of abuse affect the body and the associated drugs used in the treatment of substance abuse disorders.
