Description:

Competency Area: Dysfunctional Behavior
Restricted to Year II students.

This course focuses on the etiology, description, diagnostic criteria for, and treatment of trauma-related and personality disorders. The trauma-related disorders to be addressed are acute stress disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, complex PTSD, dissociative disorders, eating, and somatoform disorders. We will be also covering Cluster A (odd / eccentric), Cluster B (dramatic / erratic), and Cluster C (anxious / fearful) Personality in DSM-IV and ICD-10. Evidence-based treatments for each of the disorders will be identified and described. Learning methods will include lecture, reading, discussion, video training tapes, and role plays.
