This course emphasizes an integrated bio-psycho-socio-cultural model for understanding the etiology of psychopathology. After describing and critiquing the DSM-IV, ICD-10, and ICF, the course focuses on the clinical features of and the diagnostic criteria for the most prevalent mental disorders of adulthood and childhood, including: thought, mood, anxiety, substance abuse, memory, eating, and adjustment disorders. Through the use of clinical vignettes, students will develop their capacity for making reliable differential diagnoses. Meets 6/6 - 7/18/11.
