Drawing from the emerging field of somatic psychology as a foundation, this course will provide students with a basic understanding of how mindfulness, the body, and nonverbal modalities can support self regulation and integration of sensory data for a culturally diverse array of clients with a variety of presenting problems. The course will describe an understanding of how sensory, affective, and cognitive destabilization may be addressed through right hemispheric approaches to counseling. Students will participate in experiential activities as a part of this course.
