Competency Areas: Elective

This weekend course will cover three components of the interface between mindfulness meditation and psychotherapy: (1) instruction and practice in a variety of mindfulness practices including mindfulness meditation, body awareness and hatha yoga for the counselor, (2) the use of mindfulness tools and principles with clients, including an introduction to mindfulness based cognitive therapy for depression and the use of mindfulness in working with anxiety and (3) exploration of how these practices can inform, enhance and deepen the therapeutic process itself. Participants should wear comfortable clothing for experiential activities. Participants may also bring a meditation cushion or bench if they wish.
