This course employs a systems approach to understanding the intersections of business and earth systems, also known as the evolutionary corporation. The Earth systems of atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, lithosphere, and pedosphere are analyzed through field trips to local organizations, readings, and discussions. Students work closely with one organization to research and problem solve an organization’s earth system challenge. Section A will have two field trips for their consulting project. Trip Fees: $55 total. For Section B the Fall Learning Journey will continue to explore New England business’ approach to sustainability. Past learning journeys have traveled to businesses in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. The goal of the learning journey is to introduce students to a variety of organizations that are addressing sustainability challenges – from those just starting to think about sustainability to those for whom sustainability is a core value. The experience gives students a chance to apply in-class learning to actual organizational environments. Trip fee: $140.00
