Description:

Competency Area: Financial Management
Prerequisite: OMF 561 Financial Management or written permission of the instructor provided to the Registrar146s Office via FirstClass.
Restricted to 2nd year O&M MS and MEd students.

This course will provide students with an opportunity to pursue research on financial management issues. Students will be asked to choose a topic in finance that is consistent with their overall professional goals and then research this topic in depth. Also, the course will assist students in learning about budgets, theories of financial management, and tools for financial analysis. Class sessions will include a mixture of class discussion, examination of case studies, and presentations on student topics. A seminar approach -- which encourages inquiry, questions, and discussion of current events -- will be utilized. Also, group work will be strongly encouraged, and online assignments and discussion will be employed. This class serves as a follow-up to OMF 561 and offers students the opportunity for more intensive research in their area of interest. Students should check the course conference on FirstClass for on-line assignments that will begin prior to the first class meeting.
