Description:

Competency Areas: Students who entered Fall 2010 and later: Internship Required
Restricted to Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 ES students.

Students register for a total of two 3-credit Internships during their course of study; generally one 3-credit in the summer, and a second 3-credit in their final semester. Internships are REQUIRED for all Advocacy for Social Justice & Sustainability, Conservation Biology, Environmental Education, Self-Design, and Sustainable Development and Climate Change concentrations.

The Internship provides students with an opportunity to apply, in an organizational setting, what they are learning and to develop professional contacts within their fields of interest. While students are responsible for locating internships, faculty members are available to provide support and information as needed.

Note: There are no seminars held on campus during the spring semester. Participation on Sakai, a written project, a reflection paper, an electronic presentation and a supervisor's evaluation are required for verification. Students who entered Fall 2011 are REQUIRED to attend a summer internship orientation meeting either April 5 or 6, 5:00 - 7:00 pm.
