How has your career changed since completing your program?
I had been a classroom teacher for fifteen years and an environmental educator for five. My career has changed completely. I’ve started a consultancy as an advocate for parents of children with Asperger’s Syndrome, Non-verbal Learning Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. I also run support groups for parents, pragmatic social skills groups for students, and present workshops to educators from across the country. I went on to be the assistant director of the Asperger’s Association of New England (AANE).
What was the best part of the program?
My professors are tops in their field and many have published books. They offered an amazing level of expertise.
What did Antioch University New England contribute to your career?
Antioch gave me the confidence, knowledge, understanding, and expertise I needed. I still keep in touch with my classmates and continue to consider my professors as mentors. I have a network of professionals I can call on for advice.
