Melissa’s motivation for looking for a graduate management program was clear. “I needed to broaden my management perspective, gain more confidence in my professional abilities, and focus on my career.”
After attending a visiting day and meeting faculty and staff, Melissa found the program offered the things she felt mattered most: dedicated faculty and staff; integration of theory and practice; a full-time, concentrated curriculum; and a program she could complete while working. She wanted a program that would help her grow both personally and professionally.
“The concepts I learned in class were immediately applicable to current and past work environments and I could often put them to use right away. This allowed me to affect positive change from the beginning.”
The skills and strategies she acquired have allowed Melissa to expand her horizons, including entry into the consulting field. “I have organized my professional responsibilities into organizational development, workforce development, and economic development. I am now working for three separate organizations. And for the first time I am a paid consultant for a local non-profit organization.”
“Since completing my program, I have achieved more balance professionally and personally and I feel more confidence in my ability to make a significant contribution in the nonprofit sector,” says Melissa. And exemplifying true leadership, Melissa shares the insights she gained through the program with others to help them realize their potential. “I found my voice and have taken on a coaching role with several colleagues, helping them succeed more fully
in the workplace.”
