Where do you get your inspiration?
At my graduation, Heidi Watts (faculty emerita) gave the speech for the Department of Education. She said teachers are privileged witnesses of daily miracles. This has proven absolutely true.

What are the best parts of your job?
I pay attention to my students as individuals. I enjoy watching them in situations designed to help them become responsible citizens.

How has the Integrated Learning Program proven most valuable to you?
I work with 15 to 20 kids and teach them the full curriculum—math, language arts, science, social science, music and the arts, and physical education—through a comprehensive project-based curriculum.

Why does the world need you, and others like you, now?
Whoever stands in front of a group of people should be prepared to remind them of their humanity so that we don’t lose it in the fray of cyberspace. We need to remember that technology is a wonderful and necessary tool that can enhance the human touch.
