Why did you choose the Antioch Dance/Movement Therapy program?
The program is accredited for DMT, and the minor in counseling improves your job prospects after graduation since you have the coursework to apply for licensure. It puts the Antioch program a step above the rest.
How do you use Dance/Movement Therapy in your current position?
I work with adolescent boys and young men in transition who have been criminally involved. I integrate expressive arts into my work with them and do one-on-one counseling, and group and family therapy. It is a challenging job, but I really love it.
How did ANE prepare you for the work world?
Antioch taught me the art of counseling. The way the program is laid out, with a practicum and work with clients right away, gives you the experience you need when you graduate. To be able to say you’ve worked with a variety of populations before even graduating is really valuable.
What is the best thing about your job?
I get to help underprivileged, at-risk youth. I am giving them a chance to express their feelings and to make life-lasting change.
