Our Mission and Values

Mission

small group discussionWe educate leaders and managers who want to create organizations that are successful, effective, sustainable, humane, and socially and environmentally responsible. Through active engagement within a collaborative learning community, students clarify their purposes, values, and goals as leaders and managers. They gain the theoretical knowledge, practical skills, experience, and self awareness to achieve meaningful results and develop their careers.

Values

Learning in Community

A learning community that fosters and encourages life-long learning is essential to the growth and development of all individuals. We are intentional in our efforts to create a challenging and supportive learning environment for our students. They can then be instrumental in creating and nurturing such communities in other parts of their lives.

Integration of Theory and Practice

Broad knowledge of organizational theories, the skill to apply the theory to practice, and the ability to use experience to critique and refine theory are at the core of our curriculum. The integration of academic learning and organizational practice provide the foundation for the scholar-practitioner in the workplace.

Self Knowledge

To be effective in any setting one must be self aware and a reflective learner. The development of the whole person - cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and spiritual - is viewed as an essential aspect of the formal learning experience, as well as a lifelong endeavor.

Shared Involvement and Influence

Effective, appropriate, and equitable processes for involvement and influence benefit both individuals and organizations. The results are better decisions, enhanced commitment, and increased performance.

Diversity Within Our Common Humanity

Honoring human differences, respect for our shared humanity, and promotion of social justice are vital for the well-being of all individuals. They are also essential to our ability to work together creatively for the good of our organizations, the natural environment, and the global community.

Excellence in Process, Outcomes, and Relationships

We strive for the highest possible quality in the planning, execution, and results of our work, and in our human relationships. Toward these ends, we engage in practices of continuous learning and improvement.
