The Cohort Approach

MBA StudentsYesterday's fiercely competitive business stereotype has evolved into a team approach in today's business model and at Antioch University New England. The increased demand for programs that support collaborative relationships reflect the shift toward a new corporate culture. AUNE's cohort approach complements this cooperative style. You will join a group of peers who will work through the program requirements together, right from the beginning.

With a small class size, you'll have more personal interaction with faculty members and other MBA students. You'll work closely with various faculty members who are readily accessible both in and out of the classroom. The collegial atmosphere of the cohort model fosters relationship building and engaging discussions. You'll become part of an active and supportive learning community, enhanced by the unique experience and perspective each member brings.

In order to simulate the variety of teams MBA students will be involved in during their careers, design multiple opportunities for cohort members to work in 3- to 5-person teams to develop skills in team leadership, facilitation, and managing group dynamics.

Each MBA student will serve on at least one consulting team in his or her academic classes. Students will be assigned to work with a business that is facing a sustainability challenge. Teams of students research and problem solve sustainable solutions that serve the needs of the client business. Consulting teams have designed profitable, sustainable solutions for a variety of organizations.

Examples of Consulting Project Clients: Cabot Cheese, Stonewall Farm, Hannah Grimes Entrepreneur Center, Clean Air Cool Planet, and C&S Wholesale Grocers

Advisor and Mentor Program
Each MBA student is assigned an academic advisor for their entire program. An advisor assists students in navigating the culture of graduate school, clarifying expectations of the program, communication with faculty, and overall personal, professional, and academic life balance. In addition, the advisor serves as a mentor for students in career development. Some students continue to be in touch with their advisors upon completion of the MBA program because the mentoring relationship was so valuable.
