AUNE, MAPS to Host Author, Psychologist Dr. Maria Sirois

Author of Every Day Counts: Lessons in Love, Faith and Resilience to speak November 9

Antioch University New England and MAPS Counseling Services will host psychologist Dr. Maria Sirois on November 9 for an inspiring presentation open to the public.

Dr. Sirois's talk, The Great Flourishing Life: The Potency of Resilience will explore how we can create an engaged, meaningful, generous, passionate life. Sirois will ask: How do we sustain such a life amidst the challenges and changes that come our way? How can we flourish, even in the presence of suffering? How can we be resilient in the realms of aging, relationships, illness, work, and spiritual questioning?

She will also explore wisdom from the mytho-poetic traditions and research from the fields of mind-body medicine, positive psychology, and spiritual inquiry, leaving participants with knowledge, tools, and inspiration.

Dr. Maria Sirois is a licensed clinical psychologist who has practiced in the intersection of mind/body medicine, illness, and spiritual inquiry for nearly twenty years. An inspirational speaker, she has been invited to keynote conferences throughout the country and is known for her capacity to weave together research, story, poetry, clinical anecdote, and wisdom. She is currently a consultant at The Hole In The Wall Gang Camp, Ashford, Connecticut, and on staff at Kripalu Yoga Retreat Center where she leads retreats on the tools of resiliency as a basis for health and vitality. Her first book, Every Day Counts: Lessons in Love, Faith and Resilience, was published in 2006 and has become a teaching tool at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts.
