Introductory Qi Gong Classes to be Held at AUNE

January 6 and 9 classes open to public

(Keene, NH) -- The Antioch Center For School Renewal (ACSR) will sponsor introductory classes in stick form qi gong, an ancient Chinese practice based on breathing exercises, gentle martial arts movement and philosophy. The stick form of qi gong is suitable for all ages, athletic abilities and fitness levels.

The classes will be held Friday, January 6, and Monday, January 9, from 4 to 5 p.m., in the Dance Studio at Antioch University New England (AUNE). They are open to the public and there is no fee, although donations are requested. After these introductory sessions, ACSR will set up a six-week course, which will have a fee.

The classes are taught by John Young, AUNE adjunct faculty member. Before moving to New Hampshire recently, Young spent two years in Plum Village, a Zen monastery in France founded by Thich Nhat Hahn. There he refined his teaching of qi gong, first as a layperson and then as a Buddhist monk.
