Antioch University New England's PsyD Program Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Doctoral program in clinical psychology founded 25 years ago.

Keene, NH - Dr. Roger Peterson, professor and chair of Antioch University New England's Department of Clinical Psychology, hosted a twenty-fifth anniversary celebration party for the AUNE's Doctorate in Psychology (PsyD) program at the Keene, New Hampshire campus on October 6, 2008. Antioch University New England president David Caruso congratulated Dr. Peterson and his staff on this quarter-century anniversary, as did faculty and students who attended the event. Faculty, students and alumni also celebrated the program's anniversary at an AUNE reception during the August American Psychological Association's annual conference in Boston.

Dr. David Singer founded the program and formulated its initial vision in 1982. Dr. Peterson was instrumental in the PsyD program's development in 1982 and served as its founding associate director. He has been a professor and chair of the department since 1988. “In twenty-five years, our program has emerged as one of the leaders in PsyD education and training," says Peterson. "We are proud to provide a top-flight doctoral education and a profound life-changing experience.”

AUNE's PsyD program currently has twenty-five students enrolled in each year of the program. Accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) since 1986, Antioch University New England's Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) offers rigorous academic challenge and thorough clinical training. The department includes eleven core faculty members, many who have made distinguished contributions to professional psychology on the national stage. In addition there are nine associated faculty members and a number of adjuncts.

Antioch University New England's PsyD doctoral practitioner-scholar program has provided leadership in the preparation of reflective clinicians who undertake multiple roles in their professional careers. Graduates of the program approach their practices with disciplined inquiry, taking on the role of "local clinical scientists" who view their work as a socially responsible action.
