Antioch University New England Announces New Employees

Environmental studies, applied psychology, facilities services, and alumni relations add staff

Keene, NH - Antioch University New England is pleased to welcome the following new faculty and staff on board.

Deb Bergeron Deb Bergeron, PsyD, recently joined the Antioch University New England Department of Applied Psychology as assistant professor of clinical mental health counseling. Deb received her doctorate and master's in clinical psychology from AUNE. She also holds a master's degree in expressive therapies- with an art therapy specialization from Lesley College. She is a licensed clinical mental health counselor and a nationally registered and board-certified art therapist. Currently, Deb is teaching human development and diversity, fundamentals of art therapy, and social and cultural diversity. When not at AUNE, Deb has a private practice focused on art therapy consultation.

Amy BlanchardAmy Blanchard, PhD, joined the AUNE Department of Applied Psychology as assistant professor of marriage and family therapy. Amy received her PhD in medical family therapy from East Carolina University. Her specific interest is in helping women and their families who face depression during pregnancy or the postpartum period. She is teaching human sexuality and sex therapy as well as a first year professional seminar/practicum.

Charles CurtinCharles Curtin, PhD, recently joined the AUNE Department of Environmental Studies as a core faculty member. Charles is a conservation biologist whose research and practice address environmental change through integrated studies of biological and social systems focusing on the interaction of climate and land use. He received his PhD and his master's degree from the University of Wisconsin and is teaching conservation biology and comparative ecological analysis this fall.

Ben HobbsBenjamin Hobbs now works in AUNE's facilities services department where he assists with the maintenance, repair, upkeep and security of Antioch University New England's 99,000 square-foot campus. Ben is a long-time Winchester resident where he lives with his family. In his spare time, Ben is an avid fisherman. He comes to AUNE after fifteen years with C&S Wholesale Grocers.

 

Vicky MortonVicky Morton joined AUNE as the graduate school's interim director of development and alumni relations. Vicki recently served as center director for the Keene Academic Center of Claremont Community Technical College-Claremont campus. Vicky has extensive experience with fundraising, alumni support and higher education administration and has been involved in a number of nonprofit organizations. Currently she serves on the City of Keene Planning Board and is a member of the city's steering committee for their community visioning project. This is Vicky's return to AUNE as she held the position of director of alumni relations from 1990 to 1997.

Tania SchuslerTania Schusler, PhD, is now a core faculty member in AUNE's Department of Environmental Studies. Dr. Schusler will teach courses in the environmental studies PhD program this year including research strategies II this fall. Tania completed her doctoral and masters work at Cornell University. Her research interests focus on the 'messy arena' of citizen participation, and she is particularly interested in action research to explore how participation can contribute to environmentally sustainable and just communities.

Allison SmithAllison Smith, PhD, joined the AUNE Department of Applied Psychology as assistant professor of clinical mental health counseling. Allison holds a PhD in counseling and counselor education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Allison's clinical experience includes working with adults with chronic and severe mental illness, survivors of domestic violence, adults in crisis, and college students. Her research interests include stigma and mental illness and creativity in education and practice. She will teach in the clinical mental health counseling program offering courses in fundamentals of therapeutic interaction and professional orientation and ethics, as well as supervising a practicum this fall.
