Dr. Stephen Neun Named VPAA at Antioch University New England

Economist was most recently at Anna Maria College

(Keene, NH) -- Antioch University New England (AUNE) has appointed Dr. Stephen Neun as its new vice president for academic affairs.

Neun served most recently as chief academic officer at Anna Maria College in Worcester, Massachusetts. Before that, he held several academic administrative positions at Utica College in Utica, New York: dean of the Division of Social Sciences and Management and then assistant vice president for academic affairs and dean of the School of Graduate and Extended Studies.

Neun also taught at Utica College, where he became a full professor and where he won the Distinguished Teaching Award and the Harold Clark Jr. Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Professional Accomplishment.

Neun is an economist with a research focus in health economics. He co-authored a leading textbook on health economics and has written many articles for refereed publications and for the lay press. He has been sought after as an invited author, conference session chair and panelist and has served as a journal editor and reviewer in his field. He received his master’s degree and PhD in economics from the University of Connecticut, and earned an undergraduate degree in economics and political science from U Conn.

“I’m here because AUNE’s mission and core values are very important to me,” Neun said. “This is an institution where I believe I can make a real difference in the world, and I’m looking forward to being a part of its exciting future.”

“Dr. Neun has a deep personal commitment to AUNE's core values of ecological sustainability and social justice,” said David Caruso, president of AUNE. “I believe he will be a wonderful colleague and a supportive, collaborative and focused leader.”

Neun began his new position on July 1. He replaces Katherine Clarke, who is returning to the AUNE faculty as chair of the Department of Applied Psychology.
