AUNE Student Joel Moyer Appointed Regional Social Finance Fellow

Working with firm that helps fund social enterprises

Joel Moyer (O& M’ 11), who will graduate from Antioch University New England (AUNE) this spring with an MBA in Sustainability, has been named a regional social finance fellow by RSF Social Finance.

RSF Social Finance (RSF), based in San Francisco, California, is a financial services organization assisting initiatives in the areas of food and agriculture, education and the arts, and ecological stewardship. Moyer’ s role is to recommend organizations in the Northeast that have high social or environmental impacts in those areas.

“ Our goal is to lend funds based on the research and recommendations of our fellows,” said Ted Levinson, senior lending manager for RSF. “ Furthermore, we see the fellows program as an effective way to expose more MBA students to social finance and to develop a pipeline of possible hires as RSF expands.”

Since 1984, RSF has provided more than $200 million in loans and more than $90 million in grants to nonprofit and for-profit social enterprises. This year alone, it will make $19 million in high-impact loans.

Moyer, a Keene resident, interned with The Carrot Project, researching indicators of farm sustainability. He was also a 2011 Venture Fellow for Investors' Circle, evaluating business plan proposals. At AUNE, Moyer was chair of the student government and has been involved with the Net Impact chapter.
