Antioch University New England (AUNE) presents Monadnock Earth Festival 2011

Healthy Communities, Healthy Planet events scheduled April 16-23

(Keene, NH) - Antioch University New England (AUNE) celebrates the forty-first anniversary of Earth Day by showing steps Keene is taking to better the environment and build a stronger community. The theme is Healthy Communities, Healthy Planet.

AUNE will host a week of service projects before Earth Day, including community gardening projects, trail and river clean-ups, and volunteer projects at the Community Kitchen. These events will culminate in the Monadnock Earth Festival on Saturday, April 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Ashuelot River Park, 257 West Street, Keene.

At 1:00 p.m., Keene Councilman Jim Duffy will present this year’s Green Business of the Year Award to a nominated, socially responsible organization that has gone the extra mile to incorporate environmental practices into their business operations.

Bring your family and friends to meet and greet with local organizations. Get involved in hands-on demonstrations and workshops. Listen to live music from local artists.
