The twenty-month, innovative multi-disciplinary program incorporates environmental and social sciences with organizational leadership, and integrates theory with practice. Ideal for recent graduates or working professionals, it prepares students for a wide range of careers in the private and public sectors including environmental regulation, environmental consulting, local and regional planning, and environmental nonprofit leadership. "This unique program prepares graduate students to embrace complexity and use multidisciplinary approaches to address the food, energy security, and water security challenges of the twenty-first century," said program director Michael Simpson. Studies include both ecological and climate sciences; policy formulation, implementation and assessment; facilitative leadership and dispute resolution. In addition to developing proposal writing and project management skills, students gain systems thinking knowledge and practice, and build their communication expertise. The five-term program allows students the flexibility to continue with professional and personal commitments. Courses are held one day per week and three to five weekends per semester.
