NEWS RELEASEContact: Shelley Viles at 603.283.2145 or Jan Fiderio at 603.283.2107 February 25, 2009 for Immediate Release Second Annual Autism and Asperger's Exposition Open to the PublicConnect with the greater Autism/Asperger's community on March 14. Local filmmaker Dan Habib's documentary "Including Samuel" also to be screened, as well as Autism, the Musical. Keene, NH - Antioch University New England's Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders Training will host its second annual exposition on March 14 from 12:45 to 3:30 p.m. The Autism and Asperger's Exposition is an opportunity for family members, individuals, professionals, and providers in the region to connect with the greater Autism and Asperger's community. Nearly three hundred people attended last year's expo. This event is free and open to the public and will be held in the University's Community Room at 40 Avon Street in Keene, New Hampshire. More than 20 professional groups and businesses will display information and provide materials for attendees at the exposition and two films will be screened. The first film, Including Samuel, is a documentary by local filmmaker Dan Habib. It examines the educational and social inclusion of youth with disabilities, shown at 1:00. The second film, Autism, The Musical, is the story of five autistic children and the woman who leads them to defy expectations by writing, rehearsing, and performing their own musical, shown at 2:15. Certificates of Attendance for one contact hour will be given to attendees of Including Samuel, and for one and a half contact hours for Autism the Musical. Antioch University New England's Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders Training co-sponsors for the event include: The Asperger's Association of New England, The New Hampshire Autism Society, The Asperger's Resource Group at Keene State College, NH Connections, and Monadnock Developmental Services. Exhibitors at the event include: ARRO, Howda Hug, Perkins School, The Disabilities Right Center, ARCH of the Upper Valley, The NH Council on Autism Spectrum Disorders, Melmark New England, Spaulding Youth Center, Maple Leaf Center, and Family Support Council of Monadnock Developmental Services.
