One Hundred Percent of AUNE Campus Joins Efficiency Effort

Efforts save tons of CO2 and thousands in energy bills

(Keene, NH) -- The Sustainability and Social Justice Committee at Antioch University New England (AUNE) announced that AUNE has reached participation from 100 percent of the campus in its Green Guru initiative on workspace energy efficiency.

The results show in the energy savings AUNE has realized: a 34 percent cumulative reduction in electricity used during fiscal years 2007-2010 over our fiscal year 2006 peak electricity usage. This translates into 186 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions avoided and an estimated savings of $35,371 in electricity bills.

AUNE launched the one-to-one, outreach initiative a few years ago as part of the Carbon Counts: You Can Too campaign aimed at achieving carbon neutrality by 2020. Since then, AUNE's three successive Green Gurus — Aric Brown, Rachel Thompson and, now, Rachel Brett—have met with individual AUNE employees. They have shared energy- saving tips and gathered ideas on how AUNE can better achieve its goal of a more sustainable institution.
