The Psychology of Caring for the Planet

Speaker Series: Nature, Health, and the New Field of Conservation Psychology

Antioch University New England's Dr. Carol Saunders will speak on Thursday, April 10th at 7:00 p.m. about how we connect to nature, how we communicate about our relationships with nature, and what inspires us to conservation action. As part of her presentation, Dr. Saunders will introduce the new field of conservation psychology, the scientific study of the give-and-take relationships between humans and the rest of nature, with the goal of encouraging conservation of the natural world.

Dr. Saunders will share examples of conservation psychology in use including the Leave No Child Inside movement, as well as effective ways of talking about global climate change.

Dr. Saunders is a new core faculty member in the Antioch New England Department of Environmental Studies. Before coming to ANE, Dr. Saunders was the director of communications Research and conservation psychology at Chicago's Zoological Society.

Antioch New England invites the public to attend this free event as part of its Spring Speakers Series.
