3rd Annual Autism and Asperger Expo and Conference

Connect with the greater Autism/Asperger’s community on March 20th.

Location: Antioch University New England

Antioch University New England’s Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders Training will host its third annual exposition on March 20 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. The Autism and Asperger’s Exposition is an opportunity for family members, individuals, professionals, and providers in the region to connect with the greater Autism and Asperger’s community. Nearly three hundred people attended last year’s expo.

This event is free and open to the public and will be held in the University’s lobby at 40 Avon Street in Keene.

12:20 – 12:45 PM Update on New Hampshire and Vermont Autism Insurance Reform: What insurance reform will mean to families, schools and professionals presented by Kirsten Murphy, Executive Director, ARCH of the Upper Valley, Inc. and Administrative Director, NH Council on Autism Spectrum Disorders

1 – 1:45 PM Coaching for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders: A panel discussion with three coaches specializing in work with individuals with autism spectrum disorders. Panel members will share their insight into what coaching is. How does it differ from other forms of treatment? How is it different from coaching with nuerotypical populations? How is success measured? Panel members include Ellen Korin, MEd, Barbara Bissonnette, CEC, and Shelby Wietzel, PhD

2 PM Awards Presentation to The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism: in appreciation to the Flutie family and the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism for their support of Antioch’s Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders Training and support of other autism and Asperger’s related services in the greater Monadnock Region.

2:05 PM “The 1000 Piece Puzzle” by CarolAnn Edscorn, MS: Using neuroscience, sensory integration, and special interests to look toward the future, CarolAnn introduces the current research in neuroscience about the autism brain, and takes us on a guided tour of sensory issues and to the launch pad of life in community using the special interests and skills of a person with autism.

CarolAnn Edscorn is a writer and presenter who was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome in 1995. She is an educator with the Freedom Writers Foundation and has an entry in the book Teaching Hope. She earned an MS in Urban Affairs Management and a graduate certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders from Antioch University New England. CarolAnn is married and has five children.
