MBA Prerequisites

Preparation for the MBA in Sustainability Program

Sustainability professionals must have the content knowledge and skills to navigate multiple aspects of a business, including finance, metrics, human resources, team dynamics, ecological systems, economics, leadership, and business operations. Given that our students come from a range of educational and professional backgrounds, and to ensure their success in the program, we have identified baseline proficiencies that all students must demonstrate in order to be accepted into the MBA in Sustainability Program.

Required Course Work

Introduction to Accounting and Micro Economics

Evidence of proficiency for each of these two areas may be presented in one or more of the following ways:

  1. A grade of B or better in a college-level course (traditional, online, or hybrid), completed within the past three years. Evidence: Transcript. Coursework can be completed upon acceptance into program, however, students will not be allowed to enroll in Finance I or Ecological Economics until transcript submitted.
  2. Evidence of work experience that employs the relevant knowledge. Evidence:  Discussion and Approval by Chair of Department

Excel

Evidence of proficiency for excel may be presented in one or more of the following ways:

  1. Successful completion of a professional development course in the relevant subject area with evidence that the course addressed the specified prerequisites skills and content. Evidence: Copy of Certificate of Completion
  2. A grade of B or better in a college-level course (traditional, online, or hybrid), completed within the past three years. Evidence: Transcript.
  3.  Evidence of work experience that employs the relevant knowledge. Evidence:  Approval by Chair of Department
