What is OhioLINK?
OhioLINK stands for Ohio Library and Information NetworK and is the name of a group of libraries which got together to pool their financial resources. This results in greater buying power for library materials, which are shared among member libraries. ANE Library has access to resources provided through OhioLINK because our parent institution, Antioch University, is in Ohio and is a member of OhioLINK.
What’s in OhioLINK?
OhioLINK provides access to over 100 electronic research databases and almost 7000 electronic journals. Remember that OhioLINK is a collection of resources, not a single resource.
How do I use OhioLINK?
The best way to use OhioLINK is to use one of its subject-specific research databases. See what these are by browsing OhioLINK’s database subject list. A subject-specific research database will pinpoint relevant material for you quickly and easily.
What about OhioLINK’s Quick Search feature?
The Quick Search in OhioLINK allows you to do a very simple, broad search in multiple databases which usually results in thousands of citations - that is, not a very useful search. Here’s what OhioLINK says about using Quick Search: “Advanced researchers [such as graduate students!] who need the most comprehensive and authoritative results are better served by using the specialized databases in their field. Only a specialized database interface can provide sophisticated tools such as a thesaurus, proximity operators, specialized limits, complex export options, etc.” In other words, choose a subject-specific database instead of Quick Search.
