What is NetLibrary?
NetLibrary is an Internet-based electronic library collection which provides access to the full text of scholarly, reference, and professional books in digital format. eBooks are digitally reproduced in their entirety, including photographs. Antioch’s students, staff, and faculty have access to the titles in the collection through our normal database username and password log-in precedure. Once you are in netLibrary, you may “browse” any title for fifteen minutes without creating an individual user account. However, by creating a user account, you may actually “check out” an eBook and have exclusive use of it for four hours.
Creating an Account
To get to NetLibrary, log in at the link above. When you are at the NetLibrary homepage, click on “Create an Account” at the right of the screen. Follow the instructions for selecting a user name and password. Continue filling out the form and click the “submit” button. Once you have created your own account, you will have access to our eBook collection from outside our library. Your account will allow NetLibrary to recognize you as an authorized user.
Quick Reference Guide
- On the default search screen, you can search for books
by title, author, keywords, full text, or publisher. Keyword searching searches
author, title, subtitle, Library of Congress subject classification, publisher,
and ISBN. Full text searching searches every word in every eBook in our collection.
- When you have done a search, your results will be displayed as a list of eBook titles. You may view the contents of an e-book in 15-minute increments. If you are not actively viewing the item, it returns to NetLibrary for another patron to view. While you are viewing an e-book, it is unavailable to other patrons of our library.
- Click on a chapter or subject area and you will automatically be taken to it. If you have done a full text search, you will be taken to the page(s) of the book where your search term appears.
- You are allowed to print one page at a time using your Web browser’s print function or the print function on the Adobe Acrobat toolbar. Printing the entire eContent item violates copyright laws and precautions are taken to protect those copyright laws.
- Copy selections of the full-text eContent item using your Web browser’s copy function or the Select Tool on the Adobe Acrobat toolbar. Copying the entire eContent item violates copyright laws and precautions are taken to protect those copyright laws.
- Books in our NetLibrary collection are listed in Horace, our online catalog. A search in Horace for books by author, title, subject, etc., may turn up e-book titles. Electronic book titles in Horace are indicated by the following phrases:
- “Library Location: Web site - PASSWORD required”
- The title may contain the phrase [electronic source] or [computer file]
- “Other authors: NetLibrary, Inc.”
- “Electronic Access: An electronic book accessible through the World Wide
Web; click for information“ [This is a live link to NetLibrary from the catalog]
- “Form: Electronic books”
