Placing a Hold

If a book you want is checked out, you may place a hold on it so that when it is returned we will put it aside for you. You may also place a hold on a book that's on the shelf and come in to pick it up later (within 7 days). To place a hold online:

  • Do a search for the book in Horace, the online catalog.
  • Click on “Request” at the top of the screen. You will be prompted to put in your library barcode number (found on the back of your student ID card) and last name.
  • On the next screen click OK.
  • Type your own barcode in the Barcode line on the WebVoyage Hold screen.
  • Click “submit request” button. You should then see the message “Your Patron Initiated Request was successful.”
  • If you go back to the book’s record in Horace, you should see the notation “(Requests:1)” in the Status line.
  • You can also place a hold on a book by phone at 603-283.2400, by email, or in person at the Library.

Renewing ANE Library Materials

  • ANE Library materials may be renewed once.
  • Overdue materials may not be renewed online. Contact the library if you wish to renew an item that is overdue.
  • Go into your library record to see a list of the items you have checked out.
  • To renew an item, check the box to the left of it in the “Renew?” column.
  • Then click on the “Renew Checked Items” button.
  • The item should say “Renewed” and give you the new due date. Check this to be sure! If it says “Not renewed” that means someone has placed a hold on it and you must return it by its original due date.
  • You can renew an item as long as no one has placed a hold on it.
  • You can also renew items by phone at 603-283.2400, by email at Library Circulation in First Class, or in person at the Library.

Recalls

If a book you want is checked out and you need it urgently, you may ask that we recall it from the patron who has it checked out. The patron will have two weeks to return the book.

  • To recall a book, contact the Circulation Desk (603-283-2400).
  • Patrons may not initiate their own recalls through Horace.
  • When a recalled book is available for check out, you will be notified.
  • If you are notified that a book you have checked out has been recalled, you will have two weeks to return the book to the library. After that, fines are charged at $1.00 per day.
