This internship offers the experience of living in the dynamic city of Boston while mentoring six high school students (ages 15-18) through a summer work experience with the National Park Service. Working in collaboration with Lead Park Rangers at John Fitzgerald Kennedy National Historic Site, Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site and Longfellow House-Washington’s Headquarters National Historic Site, the intern will lead high school students in developing and facilitating a variety of community engagement activities with an eye toward reaching new audiences, and will plan and coordinate ﬁeld experiences at area national parks as part of a career exploration initiative. In addition, the applicant selected will work with teens to document their perspectives and experiences through digital media that will ultimately be edited, designed and produced f or distribution with the help of a social media specialist. The applicant selected for this position will play a key role in helping the park build and strengthen relationships with diverse communities, while simultaneously raising awareness of career and career exploration opportunities available through the National Park Service and Student Conservation Association.
