Prairie Flower Children’s Center – a preschool (3-5 years old) inspired by the Waldorf education philosophy – is seeking a co-teacher or experienced assistant for the 2013-2014 school year with potential for the new employee to transition into Prairie Flower director in the future.
Prairie Flower began in Ames, Iowa around 13 years ago. It is directed by Delphine Douglass and runs Monday through Thursday, 9 am – 12:15pm with a class size of 11 to 14 children.
Daily rhythm includes outdoor play and story telling in the woods of Inis Grove (a nature sanctuary located right behind the school’s little red cabin), indoor play, circle time, watercolor painting, bread making, vegetable cutting, puppet shows/role playing, and festivals.
PFCC’s site is idyllic for early childhood movement and connection to nature. Traversing along the banks of the river, we experience the Midwest’s four seasons in all of their beauty. Ames itself is a college town, home to Iowa State University, and much ethnic diversity. Come join an inspired, vibrant community of families and educators committed to the Waldorf vision!
