The Chicago Women's AIDS Project (CWAP) is the only organization in the Chicago area specialized in meeting the psychosocial, mental health, case management, and advocacy needs of HIV positive self-identified women, with 25 years of experience delivering programs for this population. CWAP uses an empowerment-based model of care in which women receive therapeutic support in order to take control of their own health and to live as fully and productively as possible.
C.W.A.P. is currently seeking a licensed therapist to provide psychological assessments, professional counseling and case consultation for women and family members affected by an HIV diagnosis. The ideal candidate for this position has demonstrated experience working with low-income women and experience supporting clients who are living with addiction, trauma, anxiety disorders, chronic illness, depression, family conflict and HIV.
The therapist will be responsible for providing ten hours of service per week under this contract.
Among other responsibilities, the Therapist will:
â–¡Provide counseling services to clients at a weekly therapy clinic located at our South Shore office.
â–¡Maintain phone contact with clients and take part in outreach activities to recruit new clients.
â–¡Make psychiatric referrals when needed and consult with medical providers to coordinate care.
â–¡Maintain confidential case records based on standards designated by the Chicago Department of Public Health, and submit a monthly report to the Program Coordinator.
â–¡Demonstrated experience working with low-income self-identified women (transgender women and cisgender women).
â–¡Demonstrated experience working with a range of mental health diagnosis.
â–¡Responsible for maintaining professional liability insurance.
â–¡The therapist must agree to maintain the confidentiality of our clients and to observe agency protocols and procedures and to abide by the Code of Ethics of the American Counseling Association.
