Summer GIS Position (Seasonal)

TOWN OF SOUTH KINGSTOWN

 

GIS/Engineering Technician

 

The Town has an opportunity for an individual to work 35 hours per week for approximately 8-10 weeks during the summer of 2013.  This position will assist the Engineering Division and GIS staff in field mapping stormwater catch basins and manholes throughout the community utilizing an iPad tablet.    You will be required to perform this field work on foot after driving to the mapping sites. You must be available to work the beginning of June through August.

 

 

Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age, have completed 2 years of college, have a working knowledge of the Apple iPad mobile device, have a valid operator license and good driving record, ability to pay close attention to detail, ability to work independently and in the outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.  Course work in Geography, Geology, Natural Resources, Engineering or a related field. Knowledge of ArcGIS desktop and ArcGIS server, and familiarity working with Apple iOS 6, XML and Esri Runtime for iOS is desirable but not mandatory.  Training will be provided.  The position pays $15 per hour.
