Summer Day Camp Math/Science Instructor

Position: Summer Day Camp Science/Math Instructor

Hours: Monday-Friday 9:00AM-12:30PM, July 7-August 8 (weekly camp)

Summer Science/Math Games Instructor must:
– enjoy working with children (ages 6-15)
– engage and mentor children to learn how to think through hands-on projects (small group or individual)
– pass a background check (SSN, prior addresses, etc.) to work with children
– be a college or graduate student in Engineering, Physics, Applied Math, Computer Science or a current Science and/or Math Teacher

Past Successful Projects:
– Building bridges
– Making microscopes and image capture
– Bisecting line with compass and other geometry puzzles
– Paper airplane design and contest

Thoughts on Additional Projects:
– Create Calder-type mobile
– Theo Jansen-type mobile creatures
– Robotics
– Your ideas

Description of the Day Camp:
– Weekly camp, July 7-August 8
– 40 to 50 students, ages 6 to 15
– Self-contained weekly program including math/science games, creative writing and chess in the morning and Olympic fencing in the afternoon.
– Breakfast and lunch included
– Free fencing sessions after lunch
