We are seeking a lively and well-rounded individual who can confidently lead groups of children age 2-6 in an outdoor setting for or all of our eight week program that lasts from June 17th to August 9th. Summer camp is based on our lovely school campus with eleven acres of forest and stream. Summer teachers work as a team and are supported by the year-round staff of the school. We are a developing member of WECAN, the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America, and a non-profit school serving approximately 20 children 2-6 years old. The Garland School is a nature based, pioneering school in its fourth year.
About the school
Along with traditional Waldorf education, the school’s educational philosophy incorporates the work of Emi Pickler and Helle Heckman. We spend our days outside in either our hemlock shaded play yard, walking along the miles of trails, exploring in the old growth pine woods and playing around the spiral vegetable garden. The school menu is designed using the insights of Weston A. Price and all summer staff participate in the preparation of our delicious food. We serve a local and organic breakfast, lunch, and snack daily.
The ideal candidate would have waldorf training and or experience and be enthusiastic about sharing the outdoors and cooking with children. Our summer program is held entirely outdoors. Pay is commensurate with experience. A minimum of a four week commitment is necessary and preference will be given to those willing to work more.
