Spanish Speaking Therapist/Counselor

Nueva Vida, Inc., (NV) is looking for a Spanish-speaking Therapist/Counselor to provide individual and group therapy to Latinas with cancer in Richmond, VA.


  • Masters Degree in Psychology or Social Work (With a valid license)
  • Two or more years of experience
  • Experience in cancer or other chronic illness
  • Fluent in English and Spanish, and bicultural (closely familiar with both American and Latino/Hispanic cultures)
  • Training and facilitation skills
  • Intercultural knowledge skills
  • Deep commitment to strengthening cancer survivors
  • Ability to work weekends or nights
  • Computer proficiency

Program Consultant’s specific responsibilities are listed below:

  • To provide individual counseling to cancer survivors and their families if necessary. (Clients will be referred by the Richmond Program Manager or Survivorship Program Manager)
  • To facilitate peer support groups
  • To participate in monthly clinical supervision sessions with the survivorship program team. NV’s Survivorship Program Team includes all the Survivorship Program Consultants from Richmond, DC, and Baltimore.
  • To provide regular feedback to the Survivorship Program Manager about assigned cases
  • To refer cancer survivors to support groups as they phase out of the initial period of crisis
  • To identify any unmet clinical needs of cancer survivors and relay these needs to Survivorship Program Manager
  • To prepare monthly reports and patient notes for review to the Survivorship Program Manager
  • To attend additional suggested workshops for enhancing clinical capacities under Nueva Vida’s model
  • To administer Psychological instruments to clients as required by Survivorship Program Manager
