Source Water Protection Specialist

Summary of Position
The Source Water Protection Specialist will assist Granite State Rural Water Association
by working with communities and water systems to develop source water protection plans. In
each project area, the Specialist will hold water protection workshops, work with local partners
to help establish and manage volunteer planning committees, develop inventories of potential
sources of contamination, guide committees through the recommendation-generating process,
and write a source water protection plan.
Required Qualifications
ï‚· Completion or progress toward a degree in Natural Resources. Master degree preferred.
ï‚· Knowledge of source water protection planning, public water supplies, and potential
sources of contamination.
ï‚· Ability to establish and work with volunteer committees.
ï‚· Available for travel and willingness to attend night meetings.
ï‚· Strong presentation skills, word processing, spreadsheet, internet and computer skills.
ï‚· Demonstrated experience using ArcMap software to generate maps.
