Senior Social Worker, LCSW

Job Summary

The Wediko NYC Sr. Social Worker is responsible for the overall management of school-based programming sites. The Sr. Social Worker will provide clinical supervision and consultation to school-based staff. The Sr. Social Worker will provide staff professional development trainings, administrative consultation, parent outreach, and direct student services. The Sr. Social Worker will report to/work alongside the Program Manager and be supervised by a Co-Director. Sr. Social Worker is responsible for planning and management of all school-based program activities, direct services at the schools, outreach and coordination, and all administration.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises school-based programming focused on supporting students and families in crisis and with a history of academic underachievement
  • Provides supervision of social and emotional program staff at the school site
  • Supervises the social work intern(s)
  • Provides Co-Directors with regular reports on department performance, highlighting areas of achievement and areas requiring additional attention and/or guidance and direction
  • Implements planning and management of services at one or more school sites
  • Provides and supervises direct school-based services, clinical consultation, crisis counseling, assessments and resource referrals
  • Serves as primary liaison between school administrators and Wediko's administrative team
  • Creates structures and supports as needed to meet needs of students, staff and school-based teams
  • Supervises student intake interview process, attendance team meetings, and case management reviews
  • Provides and supervises outreach to students and their families, including phone calls, written correspondence, and home visits for students that are struggling in school
  • Oversees communication between students, families, and school staff
  • Develops, maintains and supervises the effectiveness of assessment tools for school-based services
  • Attends school meetings (occasionally in the evening or on weekends)
  • Creates and provides professional development programming for contracted and in-service work, including Side by Side training and PBIS training
  • Cultivates and maintains effective relationships with school and DOE administrators, funders and other CBOs in order to encourage consideration of future collaborative opportunities
  • Provides initial consultation and creation of school-based work plans to address individual new school needs
  • Compiles and submits required compliance reports for funders and contractors
  • Tracks trends and remains current regarding developments in the areas of mental health, SEL, and education, especially how it relates to New York State
  • Represents Wediko in the field via presentations at panels, conferences, meetings, etc.
  • Advanced degree in Social Work (MSW or Ph.D.)
  • 5-7 years experience supervising professional field-based staff engaged in the administration of school-based programs
  • 5-7 years experience working within or managing programs serving youth and families
  • LCSW – licensed at the independent level
  • SIFI certified
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to approach challenges in a supportive and creative manner
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Bilingual Spanish, a plus

The position requires the ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods and climb multiple flights of stairs.
